My son turns 30 this week, a milestone for both of us. Having a child turn 30 is a milestone for any mother, for any parent. I look at him and think, “you are going to start getting old now.” (I voiced this sentiment to him this morning while he was brushing his teeth, and he said, “that’s not a good way to start my day.”) More often than not, the truth hurts. Today I also reflect on my choice to have a child in my late twenties - I will never be twice his age, which is somehow very important to me. I will likely live long enough to see him turn 50.
Cherish your children; they grow up fast.
